Slat Back Arm Chair

The Shakers were among the very first in America to engage in the business of producing chairs on a large scale. They sold their first chairs at New Lebanon, New York in 1789.

During the nineteenth century, they made many refinements in design and proportion, because of their belief that the most simple things are the most beautiful.

One of the advantages of purchasing a Shaker-style dining chair is that the design and materials have been tested by time and found to be successful.

We reproduce the No. 5 Slat Back Arm Chair both in hard maple, like the original, and also in a superior grade of clear Pennsylvania cherry.

Available as an unfinished kit and a "made to order" finished piece.
