Shaker Tripod Coat Stand
This coat and hat stand appears to be unique, probably because of the Shakers' widespread use of pegs and pegboard in their buildings. Perhaps this stand was needed in the Trustees' office, where visitors from the World came to conduct their business with the Shakers. The simple tripod legs are similar to the earliest candle stands from the Mt. Lebanon, New York community. The original is in the collection of The Shaker Museum and Library in Old Chatham, New York.
The Tripod Coat Stand is made from clear solid cherry.
Available as an unfinished kit and a "made to order" finished piece.
