Ladderback Arm Chair
Ladderback chairs became very popular in the early decades of the 18th century. These are thought to have been made originally around 1740-1750. Backposts duplicate the vigorous "ring" turnings and elaborate finials of priceless originals in the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The double front stretchers are "sausage" turned. Hard maple throughout. Shown in medium stain; originals were often painted deep red or black. Each kit comes complete with twisted fiber rush and easy-to-follow instructions for weaving. Anyone who can tie a bundle can weave the seat.
Available as an unfinished kit and a "made to order" finished piece.
