Low Post Bed and Trundle Bed
This simple low post bed is an outstanding example of early 18th century craftsmanship. The original was on display for many years in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The gracefully turned posts are hard maple; the molded headboard is Eastern white pine. Note the holes in the foot rail through which was woven the original rope mattress support. We have, however altered the side rails to accommodate today's standard box spring and mattress.
As an occasional bed, our trundle bed will afford young and old a comfortable night's rest. When not in use, it can be rolled under any of our beds. It can be assembled so that is pulls out from the side of the bed (as shown in the photograph) or from the end of the bed. Made from solid hard maple.
Both available as unfinished kits and a "made to order" finished pieces.
