Enfield Meeting House Bench
The Shakers have always used light, portable benches in their meetinghouses and meeting rooms. This design, dating from about 1840, is a refinement of the sturdy, time-tested Windsor style. It remains crisp, contemporary, and--yes, comfortable. Perfect at home or in a professional environment. The original is in the collection of the Shaker Museum and Library in Old Chatham, New York. Made with a seat specially shaped of Eastern white pine for comfort, like the original. The back and legs are rock maple for strength.
Available as an unfinished kit and a "made to order" finished piece.
