Tape Back Side Chair

In the early 1860's, the Mt. Lebanon Shakers designed a line of chairs sized specifically for those who were to use them, ranging from the No. 0, for infants, up to the No. 7, for large-sized adults. The No. 5 size was intended for use as a dining chair. The backposts are bent to the rear and the back rails are generously curved, so that the back "fits" a person - tall or short - perfectly.

The seat height and overall dimensions were all thoughtfully worked out by the Shakers. We reproduce the Tape Back Side Chair both in hard maple, like the original, and also in a superior grade of clear Pennsylvania cherry.

Available as an unfinished kit and a "made to order" finished piece.
